12.10.12 – Stagecoach @ Street Feast; 9pm, £6.
A piece of truly classic cinema. John Wayne matured as a result of this film from the lesser known actor he was to the hero of Westerns he’s remembered as today. Outlaw Wayne finds himself in a stagecoach laden with a rag-tag bunch, riding through Apache territory and an angry fella’ named Geronimo on the loose. Classic Cowboys & Indians, great cinema.
19.10.12 – Blackmail @ Street Feast; 9pm, £6.
Crushingly chilling, executed with deadly precision. Hitchcock’s mastery is visible even in this one of his early films. A story about, you guessed it, Blackmail, told with truly amazing Hitchcock-ian suspense. A murder is committed, but are there any witnesses?
26.10.12 – Casablanca @ Street Feast; 9pm, £6.
Enough people haven’t seen this film to warrant its screening. Oft misquoted, much loved, still, for decades. A true love story befitting of the silver screen and thus of our diner. If the Silver Screen Diner had enough money we’d buy a neon sign just like Rick’s.
2.11.12 – The General @ Street Feast; 9pm £6.
Buster Keaton. Pure comedey. Another true great.
6.11.12 – Delicatessen (1991) @ Trangallan; 8pm, £22.
The people of a small apartment block are hungry – real hungry. Thank God for the Butcher and his endless supply of meat… Delicately dark comedy by director of much loved Amelie (2001). All food included.
