Delicatessen at the Trangallan (6.11.12)

2 Nov

Our next event at the Trangallan is almost upon us and all I can say is.. I’m hungry!

The latest movie to have a full meal created specifically in response to it is none other than the debut film by the director of France’s beloved Amelie (2001), Jean-Pierre Jeunet: D e l i c a t e s s e n (1991).

We’ve been wanting to work with Delicatessen for months now, so we’re really pleased to finally have the opportunity: the film’s unique premise offers the perfect foundation for our talented chefs to creatively respond to – and boy have they!

In 1978 Jean-Pierre Jeunet began working with Marc Caro to great effect. The pair worked for many years together producing two feature films, both of which have that enchantment to them that makes Amelie so popular. Delicatessen (1991), The City of Lost Children (1995) and Amelie (2001) all share the dreamlike and surreal quality that binds Jeunet’s films from this period.

D e l i c a t e s s e n focuses on the tenants of an apartment block in post-apocalyptic France, seemingly stranded without a constant source of food, and their individual bids to survive. It’s weird & it’s wonderful; with lots of beautiful imagery, bizarre events and unexpected twists..!

The menu’s being kept a secret for this one: it really would be spoiling the surprise if we told you. Our amazing chefs have prepared every aspect of the food for y o u and y o u only so if there’re any necessary dietary changes to be made they are only too happy to make them. With this in mind, please let us know well in advance.

If you’d like to come you can either let us know by calling 07814 998 705 / 0207 359 4988 or by email douglasmbrennan@gmail.com / events@trangallan.com. Tables fill up quickly so do book in advance to avoid disappointment. We can’t wait to see you for what is sure to be another all-round feast : )

Doors at 7:30pm / film around 8pm.

Full set menu + film = £22

Stagecocah – 12.10.12

8 Oct

After a weeks’ break we’re back to enchant Hackney Downs Studio’s gallery space as part of Street Feast on Friday. We’ve our own unique area to relax in once everyone’s got their food & drinks.

In store is one of the greatest examples of Westerns ever made, with John Wayne leading the cast in ultra-cool, old-school fashion. It’s a classic case of racing across the dessert with the constant threat of attack looming over them. Bring a lover, bring a friend. Whatever you do, don’t miss out.

Film starts around 9pm, £6.

For more information on what’s on take a look at our listings.

Here’s the trailer.

*** City Lights (1931) ***
City Lights has to be one of the only films that manages to retain both beauty and hilarity without compromising either. Whilst being able to watch just a scene and appreciate it, it is the combination of the comedy with the touching narrative that makes this film one of the most priceless films in the history of cinema.

*** Details ***

At Street Feast the set up is going to be simple. Pick up some headphones (£6) and take a seat. Order some food and relax.

The film starts at 9pm.

Enjoy.
